If you’ll let me get a bit geeky on you, I designed what I wanted my blog to look like in Photoshop and then I searched for a bare bones theme that I could modify to fit my design. I ended up using the Ari theme from Elma Studio. It’s a great basic theme, very well coded and documented to go in and do your own customization. I also had a lot of fun integrating Google’s Font API. I used Arvo, Raleway with a sprinkling of Goudy.

There is an awesome organization here in Oklahoma City called the Spero Project. (Spero is latin for hope. Cool right?) I’ve been mulling around in my mind for a long time how I can use what I’m good at to help others. So I finally decided to start somewhere…and organize a craft night to create beautiful Mother’s Day gifts to give to the international refugees that Spero helps.

School: by Design is a youth mentoring initiative that asks high school students–in collaboration with their college or professional design mentors–to redesign their school. A $10,000 award will be granted to the high school with the most innovative project to implement their idea. I’d love to write another post with the full birth story soon, but I’m pleased to report that my VBAC was successful and experiencing the miracle of birth was nothing short of amazing. Thank you to everyone who supported, prayed for, and encouraged me!

We are all doing fine and recovering nicely (despite a case of jaundice after coming home from the hospital) and adjusting to life with a fourth member of the family. Love to you all!

Of course, I do plan on posting a photo or two and a quick birth announcement after our new little guy is born (my due date is June 13). If you think of me, please pray for wisdom, safety for me and baby, and peace as I am attempting a VBAC delivery which I am excited to try but also slightly nervous about.
