I’m Giving Away Free Ads on evie s.

I was told last week about a neat project that I want to involve my readers in – 25 leading letterpress printers each created 50 limited edition notebooks with Loop paper donated by Mohawk. They are being sold on a special storefront on Felt & Wire Shop. 100% of the proceeds benefit kids via School: By Design.

In thinking of ways I could support this project, other than just blogging about it, I decided to offer anyone that purchases one of these $15 notebooks a little ad on my blog for a whole month! It’s a great deal – not only do you get to support a great cause, but you get a beautifully crafted notebook, AND ad space on evie s. for a month.

RULES: Go to the Felt & Wire Shop and purchase a notebook. Then email me your receipt (info at evie-s.com) showing your purchase. Then after approval you may send me a non-animated graphic (gif, png or jpg) 125 x 70 pixels with the URL it will link to. I will then add it to my blog on the sidebar. This is on a first come, first serve basis so act quickly!

Limit one per person. **I reserve the right to reject any ads that I deem inappropriate or unfit for my blog.**

School: by Design is a youth mentoring initiative that asks high school students–in collaboration with their college or professional design mentors–to redesign their school. A $10,000 award will be granted to the high school with the most innovative project to implement their idea. The program was created to give youth in under-served communities a real world experience using design thinking to communicate their ideas, exhibit their potential and take action in their own lives. {via the school: by design website}

Today is the first day I actually have felt inspired to write on this blog. It was this photo that did it.

{ found via poppytalk }

I love this photo — the mood it creates, a story without words. The harrowing waters appear haunted and nudge the imagination of the mysteries that lie in the depths below.

It’s interesting how you can be going about life, seemingly mundane, and all of a sudden inspiration hits you when you weren’t expecting it.  This season of life I’m in right now, where dirty diapers from tiny bottoms and needy cries consume my day, it’s nice to know the creative part of me isn’t dead…it’s just hibernating for a while. Percolating. I’m finding myself with lots of time to think and less time to DO. So that results in a lot of ideas. And I can’t wait to share them.

What is inspiring you today?

A Few Projects

Here are a few projects I’ve been working on lately.

Making cute headbands for gifts.

Sewing ring pillows and getting ready for my first retail venture. Brides, if you live in Maryland, check out English Rose Floral Design in historic downtown Annapolis. Tell Joanne that Evie sent you!

I’ve also been thinking about and praying for the precious people involved in the recent devastation in Haiti, as I’m sure many of you are. If you are looking for ways to help, here are a few easy ones.

  1. Simply leave a comment on pioneer woman’s blog post and she will donate $0.10 for every entry.
  2. Artists and designers can donate an item to this auction and proceeds will go to charity. You can also participate in bidding on items.

In a few weeks I will also be introducing a way that artists, designers and etsy sellers can support this cause and others on an ongoing basis.

Love to you all,

I’m Alive!

eli_and_eHi Friends! I realize that it’s been a MONTH since I posted last, so I just wanted to let you know that we are still alive, we made it to OKC, and we survived the tough move here. My goal is to post a few times this week, mostly with some things that have been inspiring me lately.

The pregnancy is moving along, (12 weeks now) but this one has been so much harder than the first, leaving me very little time to unpack, let alone blog. This is the last week of my first trimester, so fingers crossed hoping it gets better from here!

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving and that you are having fun gearing up for Christmas! It’s hitting me that the holiday is just around the corner so I’m grabbing time whenever I can to work on Christmas gifts.

I’ll see you again here real soon, love to you all!

Dear Daddy, We Miss You

To my husband who has been gone for six long days blogging for Catalyst conference:

We are looking forward to you coming home today!

20 Questions

Goodness it’s already Wednesday and I haven’t posted this week. It’s been really busy, lots going on. But, I thought it would be fun to do a little 20 Questions post. Here goes!

1. Show us the inside of something cute. I love this little trinket that’s in my sons room of a jungle scene. Cute decoration only? Nope! Open it up and it reveals pieces for a game of Tiddlywinks.

2. What’s the last home cooking you had? Mmm, peanut butter cookies of my making. Well, actually not a cookie, the dough only.  I made them for knitting group tonight!

3. What do you miss? My nose piercing! I left it out for a few days while having my baby and the hole disappeared. :(

4. What makes you laugh often? My husband and my baby.

5. What’s your favorite word? insurmountable

6. What are you trying to quit? Sugar. That, however, has proven futile.

7. What’s your favorite commercial right now? I don’t watch enough TV to have a favorite.

8. Whose style do you dig? This girls from Finland. It’s colorful, vintage, classic…so chic!

9. Link to a great blog you’ve discovered lately. Where the Lovely Things Are

10. What’s the last craft you made? It’s not finished, but I’m working on a handmade purse for my niece’s birthday. I’ll post about it when it’s done!

11. A photo of the last happy mail you got. Oops! I guess I have nothing for you here. Hmm, next time I will take photos of my mail. :)

12. Something you’ve got lately? Fabric! Lots of it. From an estate sale that was clearing out “grandma’s attic.” Love those finds!

13. What are you looking forward to? A trip to Kenya next Spring with my husband working with Compassion International.

14. Post a recent snapshot of yourself. Here’s one from my flickr.

15. Recent Favorite Movie? Bedtime Stories (so cute!)

16. Something you’re working on right now? A deal with a wedding boutique in Chicago to stock some of my ring pillows.

17. If a movie were made about you, who would play you? Hmm, I dunno. Maybe Rachel McAdams? I love her!

18. What gives you goosebumps? A dramatic crescendo in a symphony or a beautiful vocal/choral arrangement.

19. Share a new obsession. Netflix!

20. What’s the meaning of your life? I love creating beauty and inspiring others, but ultimately, it’s to use my life and talents to love, serve and give to people and make a difference in the world. Sounds cliche, but it’s true!

That was fun! So, did you learn anything new and exciting? If you want to do this, leave a comment here with a link to your list so we can learn more about you. Happy Wednesday!
