I haven’t gotten my watercolors out in so long. The desire has been there, but the will hasn’t. So when a friend of mine wrote this post yesterday on getting rid of excuses and making yourself create, that was the kick in the pants I needed. So during my baby’s precious nap time I got out my supplies and gave it a go.

It was relaxing. It was peaceful. I chose to paint a dogwood flower, adding my own creative interpretation. I’ve so been looking forward to Spring, and I love dogwoods because they are sort of an impetus to seeing the world bloom again. Once they come out, life seems to radiate out from them in a trickle effect.

Anyway, I’m glad I stopped talking myself out of doing something that ended up being really fulfilling to me. What barriers do you need to overcome to follow your creative urges?

I need to start painting again! See this is a good motivator. Do you use oil or acrylic?
You should Allison! You will remember how much you enjoy it! I used watercolors for this project. I really love them, but I think I’m better at acrylics.
Beautiful and inspiring… as usual. Thank you for sharing! Makes me want to paint again!
So beautiful. My favorite part? That it was peaceful and fulfilling for you!
I have so much trouble putting my schedule aside to make room for creativity. I need to just let go!
This is gorgeous! You are great to have pushed your self to create something this lovely!
Stunning! and inspiring as well. Do you mind me asking… what kind of ink pen did you use? Not only is your watercolors lovely, I really like the ink work and I like the weight changes that you seem to be getting from that pen. I’m always searching for a new favorite pen, guess that’s one of my barriers ;)
Thank you ladies!!
Lilly, I know the struggle! I hope you get time soon for your creativity.
Dinny, it’s a Zig Millennium fine point pen. The weight changes are just emphasis I’ve made by creating bolder lines. Hope that helps!
Thanks evie!
Nice emphasis.
Breathtakingly beautfiful.

These are pretty little things. Economic forces are always the most convenient barriers to any plan, i think. Or at least to my vintage photography plans and short fillmaking (see flickr.com/malenmoalboal and bisaya short films)
This is just beautiful!
