Hi Delores! No, you don't have to do the toothpick holes if you don't want to. Thanks for commenting!

I have a wood bowel with many cracks and am considering trying your technique on it. My question is about the toothpick dots, is this something that had to be done (to get the clay in everywhere), or just something for looks? Your bowl is awesome!

Aren't estate sales fun? In fact, the house that my family and I live in right now was part of an estate sale. There were lots of old goodies left in the house, and we have had fun sorting through all of them. Many were junk, but some were great finds. Love the way your bowl turned out!

Makes me think of these wise words:

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. (2 Cor. 4:7-9)
