Love these portrait images from L.A. photographer Aaron Farley.

So I’m having a baby soon and I’m on a budget. I really really really wanted to have a sling, especially for when E is a little newborn. I registered for one, but I didn’t get it at my shower, so I decided to just make one. Couldn’t be too hard could it? It wasn’t.
I found this pattern for the Maya Wrap and started gathering the materials I needed. The week I actually decided to make one, I found an awesome King size sheet at an estate sale that I loved the pattern of, so I bought it for $2 bucks. Next I went looking for the rings, which I eventually found at our local craft store. I opted for 2 inch diameter rings because I was using much less fabric for a small size sling.

It took some cutting, sewing a few hems and some stitching to sew it together, but it was SO easy and inexpensive. The materials cost me about $3 and it took about 30 minutes to make. Success!

Happy Friday to everyone! Thought I’d post this fun project that I completed a couple weeks ago. A friend of mine is adopting a little boy from Vietnam and a bunch of us girls are throwing a baby shower for her. I volunteered to design the invitations and this is the finished product:

She is an artist and a very cool and creative girl, so the nursery isn’t in a set theme, but in colors like blue, brown and lime green. So we decided her shower should reflect her taste and have an Asian look and feel.
